SLAYER FAN DIES

LATEST: The 22-year-old SLAYER fan who plummeted from a bridge at the band's headline show at the Metaldown festival in Gothenburg, Sweden on Saturday (30Jun07), has died. According to reports, the devotee leapt from the Gota-Alv bridge opposite the event's main stage an hour into Slayer's set at the festival, and was rushed to Sahlgrenska University Hospital in the city after being found unconscious in the water below. Doctors fought to save the as yet unnamed man, but he failed to regain consciousness. The incident started as a prank when two friends stripped to their underwear and counted down a joke dive, but one of the pair went through with the jump from the 30-metre-high (98 feet) bridge into the water below. Despite the tragedy, local reports allege concertgoers were jumping off the bridge less than two hours after the fatal incident. Extra security measures and additional police were called in to prevent another fatality.
