SKIN DOCTOR DISMISSES REPORTS JACKSON WAS ASHAMED TO BE BLACK
MICHAEL JACKSON's longtime skin doctor ARNOLD KLEIN has laughed off reports the King of Pop wanted to be white.
The doctor maintains Jackson's skin became paler over the course of his life due to the skin condition vitiligo, which causes skin to lose pigmentation - and he's shocked by the singer's friend and producer Quincy Jones' claims that Jacko "obviously didn't want to be black".
Klein insists, "Michael was very proud of his black heritage."
Speaking to U.S. newsman Larry King, the doctor explains he tried in vain to slow his patient's condition down: "We basically used creams that would even out the skin colour... (but) he couldn't really go out in public without looking terribly peculiar."
