SIR PAUL RUBBISHES CLAIMS OF LENNON 'GAY FANTASIES'

Sir Paul McCartney has laughed off claims that his late Beatles bandmate John Lennon wanted to sleep with him.

A new biography, Lennon: The Life, claims that Lennon hinted at wanting a gay relationship with band member, co-writer and long-time musical collaborator McCartney, who was said to be "furious" at the revelations being made public.

But responding to the allegations made in Philip Norman's book, Sir Paul has reacted with bemusement.

"I don't think [the gay claims] are true," he told the Sun newspaper. "John never ever tried anything, I slept with him a million times.

"I've seen him on tour roaring drunk, out of his mind in the early days before he sobered up and went to rehab. Roaring drunk and it was always with a female, never once [with a man]."

He added: "If you've got a little gay tendency and you're roaring drunk I'd have caught him once."

Norman's book also claims that Lennon used to fantasise about having sex with his mother.

According to the Sun, Sir Paul and Lennon's former wife Yoko Ono had initially agreed to be interviewed for Norman's book, only to withdraw their support once the allegations about Lennon emerged.
