SIR MIX-A-LOT CRITICISED FOR FAST FOOD AD
SIR MIX-A-LOT has come under fire from a children's advocacy group for his new Burger King commercial, in which he spoofs the kids' show SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.
In the U.S. TV advertisement, the rapper sings about the cartoon character, who is renamed SpongeBob SquareButt, in a parody of his hit song Baby Got Back.
The star raps the new lyrics: "I like square butts and I cannot lie" as background dancers show off their square bottoms in tiny shorts.
Now 2,600 members of the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood (CCFC) have taken aim at the rapper as well as TV network Nickelodeon, which created the cartoon.
CCFC director Dr Susan Linn says in a statement: "Parents deserve to know whether Nickelodeon - the most popular children’s television network - signed off on the use of SpongeBob in a commercial that celebrates lechery and objectifies women."

This is about the grossest and most distasefull food commercial I have ever
seen.
It is so low class that I can't believe a company like Burger King would even
think about using it.
Now I ask you, does it do anything at all to make you want to go to a Burger
King and eat??????
All it does is make you sick and show how low class Burger King can be, even
though I can't believe it is Burger King. I think it's the agency you're using.
I'd look at changing agencies.
Thanks
Jim Wilson
This new burger king commercial is wrong for using this type of ad for young
children. Our children should not have to see womens backsides to choose a
place to eat. Spongebob can be used in a non sexual way to get the message to
the kids to eat there. I would not say anything if this was aimed at grownups
but not for kids.
