SIR CLIFF RICHARD LAUNCHES BOOK OF BIBLE TALES
SIR CLIFF RICHARD has marked his 50th year in showbusiness by publishing a collection of his top 50 Bible stories for children.
The 67-year-old British singer, a devout Anglican, is adamant all kids should be given the chance to read the holy book, insisting it is "almost criminal" for a child to have never opened the Bible.
The pop star is hoping that his collection, Fifty Favourite Bible Stories, will help revive the dwindling numbers of Christian followers.
He says, "The Church has to remain relevant. Jesus is eternally relevant. The Church isn't always. We live in a multi-racial, multi-spiritual country. If you want the Church to grow, it's got to be as combative as everyone else and prove that this is a relevant faith. I am sure the Church isn't going to be wiped out. We can still do it."
