SIMON'S WOES OVER SEXY FEMALE STARS

CARLY SIMON feels to blame for women's depleted position of power in today's music industry - because she encouraged female fans to be sex symbols in the 1970s.
The You're So Vain star enjoyed a string of steamy high-profile affairs at the height of her fame, and used her sexuality to her advantage while reportedly dating legendary rocker Sir Mick Jagger and actor Warren Beatty.
But the star feels her provocative ways paved the way for sexually objectified female singers, and worries as she can no longer tell the difference between powerful industry women and TV talent show pop beauties.
She says, "Women have gone back a step. Everything seems pre-packaged. I blame myself a little bit because I was a sex-symbol early on.
"Now it seems that you can't differentiate between the women who are getting ahead or winning on American Idol."
