CARLY SIMON snubbed ex-boyfriend CAT STEVENS when he reached out decades after their split, because she'd forgotten he'd converted to Islam and changed his name to YUSUF ISLAM
The two musicians dated for seven months in the early 1970s, but lost touch and Stevens quit music to dedicate his life to his newfound religion.
Now he's back performing again, the Father and Son singer sought out his former lover - only to find she'd forgotten all about him.
Simon tells the New York Daily News, "He called me a few years ago. I got a call from the operator that said, 'I have a Yusuf Islam on the phone.' I was asleep and didn't put two and two together.
"Then he called back and said, 'This is Yusuf Islam.' And I said, 'I'm sorry, I don't know you.' And he said, 'Don't you remember we used to sing together and we used to love each other.'
"Then I said, ''Is it you? Is it really you?' I was shocked and thrilled. It had been, 25, 30 years."
