SIGEL TO SERVE ONE DAY IN JAIL, SIX MONTHS IN HALFWAY HOUSE

Rapper BEANIE SIGEL has been sentenced to one day in jail and ordered to live in a halfway house for six months following a second probation violation. A judge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Wednesday (09Jan08) decided the hip-hop star - real name Dwight Grant - took an unauthorised trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey and associated with a convicted felon. Sigel's probation, which was enforced following a succession of legal problems and had been due to end in February (08), will also be extended a further 18 months. During his six months in a halfway house, Sigel must remains indoors at night and cannot leave Philadelphia, leaving him unable to promote his new album The Solution. The 33-year-old told U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick at Wednesday's hearing: "I'm human, but I'm working on my mistakes. I do believe that other people do get a chance to go back into society and do the work that they do."
