SHREK AND DONKEY NAMED BEST MOVIE COUPLE

Animated movie giant SHREK and his companion DONKEY have been voted the best onscreen film couple. Voiced by comedians Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy, respectively, in three hit family films, the animated pair tied for first place with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in 1990's Pretty Woman. Dirty Dancing duo Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey tied in third with Homer and Marge in 2007's The Simpsons Movie. Rounding out the top ten - in the survey by U.K. Cinema Industry - were other less conventional couples, including Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal's gay cowboy pairing in 2005's Brokeback Mountain and Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader's odd office romance in 2002's Secretary. Grace Carley, a representative for the U.K. Cinema Industry, says, "It's an unusual choice. Shrek and Donkey are not even human."
