SHEEN BLASTS LOHAN'S BAD PALS

MARTIN SHEEN has leaped to the defence of troubled actress LINDSAY LOHAN, laying the blame for her latest brush with the law on her friends. Lohan was arrested for Driving Under The Influence (DUI) for the second time in two months last week (24Jul07), as well as possession of cocaine. But Sheen, whose son Charlie has battled substance abuse in the past, is sympathetic to her plight, and insists it's the bad influence of so-called pals which is ruining her career. He tells U.S. TV show Extra, "The bottom line is you have to get through the entourages that surround these celebrities who are spinning out of control. They don't want to let it go. This is their meal ticket." He adds of his own efforts with Charlie's friends, "I just disarmed them, literally. One or two of them had guns, and I had to disarm them."
