SHEARS PENS CANCER-INSPIRED TUNE FOR MINOGUE

SCISSOR SISTERS star JAKE SHEARS has written a song for pal KYLIE MINOGUE, inspired by her battle with breast cancer. The flamboyant frontman has penned the tune with the Australian star, who was diagnosed with the disease in May 2005, and has dubbed the track "the strangest thing she's ever recorded." He says, "(Scissor Sisters bandmate) Babbydaddy and I wrote a song with Kylie called Singing In My Sleep, which is really atmospheric and dark. It's a really cool song and we love it, but I don't know if she'll put it on her album because it's really one of the strangest things she's ever recorded. "We were feeling really inspired that day. She's doing so well now." It's not the first time Shears and Babydaddy - real name Scott Hoffman - have written for the pop superstar; the pair were also behind the singer's 2004 hit I Believe In You.
