SHATNER HOPES NEW GAME WILL SAVE STAR TREK
WILLIAM SHATNER is so convinced a new STAR TREK videogame will boost waning interest in the sci-fi franchise, he's signed up to provide voice-overs. The 75-year-old will voice his iconic character CAPTAIN JAMES T KIRK from the original 1960s TV series in the console game STAR TREK: LEGACY, and hopes the project will help the franchise secure a new TV series. The future of Star Trek has been in doubt ever since STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE was cancelled last year (05) due to poor audience figures. Shatner says, "The interest in Star Trek has waned in the last couple years. It's been around a long time, it's a staple of American life and I think we need something new and different in Star Trek."
