SHARPTON TAKES AIM AT JACKSON CRITICS

U.S. civil rights leader REV. AL SHARPTON has lashed out at those paying tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON, who turned their backs on the King of Pop when he was accused of child molestation in December 2003.
The superstar was eventually acquitted of any wrongdoing in 2005, but many former friends still chose to keep their distance - and outspoken Sharpton chose to shame them as he addressed the passing of his friend on the steps of the Apollo Theatre in New York on Thursday (25Jun09).
Sharpton said, "As a friend of Michael's for the last 35 years, I call on people to pray for him. I'm numb and stunned at the reports that Michael has died."
The civil rights leader chose to speak outside the Apollo Theatre because it was a venue Jackson loved - and a place where he was once ridiculed.
Sharpton explained, "He came to the Harlem headquarters of the National Action Network, where many ridiculed him. It's amazing in the last hour to see how many people are praising him, that wouldn't go near him in the last several years and condemned him.
"He talked about how many people had let him down, but I told him he had never let the fans down."
Jackson was officially pronounced dead by the Los Angeles Coroner at 2.26pm local time. He passed away after falling into a deep coma following a cardiac arrest at his rented home in Holmby Hills, California.
The King of Pop was preparing to attend Staples Center rehearsals for what were set to be his comeback shows in London when he fell ill.
Sharpton stirred up fans in New York, with his memories of Jackson, stating, "We've marched together, we fought together... I watched him him sell stadiums out. Michael Jackson made culture accept a person of colour way before Tiger Woods, way before Oprah Winfrey, way before Barack Obama.
"Michael did with music what they did in sports and politics and television and no controversy would erase the historic impact.... He learned how to sing and dance against his worst critics. He used his strengths to help people around the world. Michael Jackson was a trailblazer. He was a historic figure that people will measure music and the industry by.
"We should never stop talking about Michael Jackson."

I definetly agree with him for lashing out on people who are "fake." He has the rights to feel how he feels. Jackson lived a hard life no matter what anyone says. He was the way he was because of his past. The molestation accusements was a giant deal and will haunt him everytime someone says Michael Jackson. In stead of his so called friends being there for him and believing him in his time of need they shined from him. Thats when he needed friends the most. Not now. I was not a big fan at first. But when i saw how strong a person can be it made my love for him grow. If that was me i dont know what i would have done. He is an inspiration to many people and no matter what i believe that he didnt do it. He will and always be missed and will always be remembered as the king of pop. He is our modern day Elvis. This should be a wake up call to everyone that your not promised tomorrow. Anyone in your life can be gone at anytime and youll never see them again. Appreciate every moment and dont dwell on the negative. Rest In Paradise Michael Jackson.

Mr. Al Sharpton I respect you very much, however, I feel this is the wrong time to lash out at people trying to help others who loved Michael Jackson get passed this point in our lives, by giving a chance to show them and the world who loved Michael and who did not. Now, is the time to put down that behavior, for with the death of Michael Jackson shows the world how we should put down those childish things to do better every time God wakes us up and gives us breath. Now is not the time for you to rant and rave about those who let Michael down, for if you open your eyes to see, there are thousands who did not, if you open your eyes to see Rev. and what you should have told Michael, when man lets you down, God is always present, for man is not God and man will let you down. God bless Rest in Peace Michael Jackson, your loved by millions and I know your in Gods hands today, where the son will not smite you, nor the moon, a place where there are no more tears or pain. For you have made it back home Michael Jackson, you have made it home, however, you will be missed and kept alive in the hearts of millions.
