SHABNAM OUT, MORE BOYS IN

Shabnam became the first contestant to be evicted from this year's Big Brother house last night.

The loudmouthed 22-year-old received an enormous 81.9 per cent of the vote, despite having both Carole and Tracey for competition.

Her eviction from the house was completed in typical Shabnam fashion as she spent what seemed like hours kissing goodbye to the housemates she has spent the last fortnight moaning about.

Perhaps she was subconsciously putting off the terrible reception of prolonged booing which greeted her when the dreaded doors opened.

Rather than scurrying to Davina for refuge she attempted to win over the crowd, performing an impromptu dance. Her efforts were unsuccessful.

In her post-eviction interview Shabnam defended her friendship with the enormously unpopular Charley but said it had been limited by the short amount of time she had spent in the house.

She described her 16-day spell on national television as a "blast" and stood by her embarrassing diary room admission that she was motivated by a need to get "deals" after she emerged into the real world.

"I try and look at positives. I was very outspoken and loud, and got on a lot of people's nerves - in a good way," she said.

Immediately prior to Shabnam's exit the Big Brother house was undergoing a bit of a revolution, as the girl-dominated flavour of this year's series ended with the insertion of four new all-male housemates.

After 25-year-old model Billi entered to a surprisingly muted reception, millionaire 49-year-old Jonathan, 22-year-old tree surgeon Liam and 19-year-old credit card clerk Brian were greeted with shrieks of excitement.

Girls still outnumber boys by eight to seven, but the gender imbalance has very much evened itself out as the house enters its third full week.
