SEX + THE CITY NIGHTS HIT BY 'FRAUDSTERS'
Bar owners in Boston, Michigan were allegedly duped into cancelling SEX AND THE CITY-themed nights after receiving fake cease-and-desist letters purporting to be from U.S. broadcaster HBO.
A string of venues in the city had planned to host evenings to celebrate the release of Sex and the City: The Movie in May (08), but were forced to cancel the events after threats of legal action allegedly from the TV show's creator HBO.
However, the letters - written on phony HBO-headed paper - were part of an alleged scam by rival bar owners attempting to monopolise potential profits from parties based around the opening of the hit movie, according to TMZ.com.
