SEX PISTOL COMEBACK IMPRESSES

The Sex Pistols returned for their first reunion in four years in London last night.

Brixton Academy saw John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock defy age and continue a current trend of retired bands coming out of the woodwork for another piece of the limelight.

Lead singer Lydon, known as Johnny Rotten in the best circles, gurned his way through the gig while wearing a fetching but slightly bizarre gamekeeper outfit.

The audience greeted his prancing machinations with glee, particularly as the majority of the audience were distinctly middle-aged.

Lydon joked: "Anyone under 40 in the crowd?"

The punk legends began with Pretty Vacant and closed with crowd-pleasers Anarchy In The UK.

Thirty years have now passed since the release of their only album, the iconic Never Mind The B******s, Here's the Sex Pistols.

Initial reviews of last night's gig appeared to suggest that the passage of time has not dented their stage presence.

The Times described Lydon's performance as "a splenetic, spitting drizzle of gurning", while the Independent concluded that "their old fury still burned."
