SCOTT BOTCHED BOTSWANA ACCENT
R&B star JILL SCOTT had to relearn her dialect for new TV series THE NO. 1 LADIES DETECTIVE AGENCY after realising she had the wrong language coach.
The singer/actress plays a Botswana-based sleuth and thought she was doing an amazing job until locals started raising their eyebrows at her accent.
She explains, "I was dialect-coaching with the wrong person. I don't know how many people would notice the subtle nuances, but the people from Botswana were like, 'Uh oh!'"
Scott has since discovered her voice coach hailed from Botswana's neighbour Zimbabwe - and was honing her accent to his native dialect.
