SCIENTOLOGY WHY BOCELLI SKIPPED CRUISE WEDDING CEREMONY

Opera superstar ANDREA BOCELLI sang for TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES at their nuptial celebrations, but refused to attend the actual wedding because it was a Scientology-based ceremony. The celebrity couple tied the knot in November (06) and the renowned tenor performed as his gift to the newlyweds. He tells the US edition of OK! magazine, "Tom is a friend of mine. He is a big talent and has a great sensibility. "I sang two small songs - one at the party for the dinner. (It was) a romantic, classic piece in Italian." Bocelli said he was present at most of the festivities, but refused to attend the actual ceremony because he felt it went against his Catholic faith. He adds, "I was not present at the (Scientology) ceremony because I'm Catholic. I didn't think it was respectful for my religion to be there."
