SCHWARZENEGGER DISTANCES HIMSELF FROM PARIS PLEA
LATEST: California Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER is keeping coy about PARIS HILTON's chances of a pardon, insisting it's "premature" to comment on her chances of escaping jail.
The desperate socialite, who was sentenced to serve 45 days in jail last week (04May07) after violating terms of her 2006 drink-driving arrest, has teamed up with a pal to pioneer an online petition begging the politician for a pardon.
The appeal, which is addressed to Schwarzenegger, claims "the American public who support Paris are shocked, dismayed and appalled by how Paris has been the person to be used as an example that drunk driving is wrong."
However, Schwarzenegger's press secretary, Aaron MCLear, says the governor has received no formal request to consider a pardon.
He adds, "It would be premature for the governor to become involved in any case until the individual has exhausted their judicial remedies."
Hilton's lawyers filed a notice in court last Friday of their intention to appeal her sentence.

He'll pardon her if there's a financial or political favor in it for him. Same
way he became
Governator.
.
I am shocked at the wording used in this report: "Schwarzenegger distances
himself from Paris plea."
That statement is not only a lie (falsehood), but if uttered in common-man
parlance, would be ACCIONABLE.
Remember this, Californians generally think of Schwartzenegger as "Arnie",
someone with whom they loved enough to make him the First Man of the whole
State, and indeed, next to Bush, the most POWERFUL and talked-about man in the
whole country!
And, suddenly, he's a scumbag who would turn his back on a fellow celebrity,
and friend? He would not, and he will not!
But, he cannot overturn the Rules of Criminal Proceedure. These Rules have
been instituted for the protection of everybody, even Paris Hilton. I am sad
for her, but she must move logically and legally through the steps of Due
Process upon which all of us depend.
It hurts my heart to see her so fearful. And, I'm sure it hurts the heart of
her friend, and Second most powerful American, Governor Schwartzenegger. He is
also completely under the Rules of Criminal Proceedure. It is infantile to
think he can, or would, trample over them, and do a "solid" for anyone, like
in Paris' situation. Not even if it were his own daughter.
And forget about all that crap that he is some "foreigher" for Austria. He is
not a foreigner ... he is an American! As is Paris Hilton! Let us keep out of
it with our mouth!- and let the correct moment of action by Arnie, if any is
possible, come to pass. And ... Oh, yeah! A few letters from us to Paris
would go a long way to let her know that we can love her, and that we can
understand how she got caught up in the vice of choice among civilized people
everywhere! Don't get disgusted with her; get disgusted with the billions of
dollars spent to glamorize to young people the "glitzy" booze and vomit
industry! How many millions of other Americans have been victims to this
soul-killing industry? WEROIU
