SCHNEIDER: 'LAST TANGO IN PARIS DROVE ME TO SUICIDE'
French actress MARIA SCHNEIDER was driven to suicide following the release of controversial movie LAST TANGO IN PARIS.
The 55-year-old - who starred alongside late actor Marlon Brandon - was taken aback by the furore over an explicit love scene in the 1972 movie - and considered taking her own life.
She says, "The whole circus made me go mad. I got into drugs - it was an escape from reality.
"I didn't enjoy being famous at all and the drugs were an escape. I took pills to try and commit suicide but I survived because God decided it wasn't time for me to go."
