SAVILE TO CO-PRESENT FINAL TOP OF THE POPS

Broadcasting legend SIR JIMMY SAVILE will join a host of celebrities in presenting the final edition of cult British TV show TOP OF THE POPS. The veteran DJ presented the first ever Top of the Pops in 1964 featuring rockers THE ROLLING STONES and pop icons THE BEATLES, and jumped at the chance to reappear on the programme - even though the line-up has yet to be confirmed. Savile, 79, says, "I did the first one, and I'll do the last. They're not even entirely sure what the format will be yet. It's all up in the air." The weekly music show collapsed after audience figures fell to under one million, despite a series of revamps and rescheduling.
