RZA: 'THE 'N' WORD IS HERE TO STAY'
LATEST: WU TANG CLAN's star RZA has voiced doubts over attempts to eliminate the racially offensive word "n**ger" from popular culture.
Last month (Jul07) hip-hop legend Kurtis Blow and R+B singer Eddie Levert were among the mourners at a mock funeral in Detroit, Michigan to lay the term to rest, organised by the National Association For The Advancement Of Colored People's (NAACP).
However, rapper RZA fears the effort was pointless, because the use of the word is still so widespread.
He tells the New York Daily News, "You can't bury the 'N' word. It's still going to be in the dictionary. It's still a Latin root word (meaning 'black').
"It's too deep in entertainment. If you watch 'The Departed,' the 'N' word is in the first line of the movie! I don't see n**ger going away anytime soon."
