ROWNTREE AND MASON BATTLE BNP OVER CD SALES

PINK FLOYD's NICK MASON and BLUR star DAVE ROWNTREE have joined calls to ban the British National Party (BNP) from selling their music without consent.
The controversial right-wing British political group has been selling compilation CDs through its website in a bid to raise campaign funds.
But artists who object to the organisation's policies are legally powerless to stop BNP bosses from using their songs.
Drummers Mason and Rowntree are joined by The Futureheads' Ross Millard, as well as British singers Sandie Shaw and Billy Bragg in signing a letter to raise awareness of the problem.
Titles of compilation CDs for sale on the music section of the BNP website include Rule Britannia and The Best of British Folk.
Earlier this year (09) Dame Vera Lynn was left outraged to discover the political group was selling her album The White Cliffs of Dover on its website.
