ROW OVER BROWN CLOTHES SALE
An auction of soul legend JAMES BROWN's stage costumes has been put on hiatus in a row over the proceeds.
The I Feel Good singer's clothes, capes, jewellery and other belongings were due to go on sale on Thursday (17Jul08).
But, although money from the auction is earmarked for the Godfather of Soul's estate, his close friends say he would have wanted the cash donated to a trust fund for poor children.
Alford Bradley, Brown's former road manager, tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "James was very dedicated to the trust."
A court in South Carolina has put a temporary block on the auction at Christie's in New York, and the case will go before a judge on Monday (14Jul08).
A Christie's spokesman says, "We believe the court will rule in favor of the estate."
