ROLF HARRIS TO SOUNDTRACK KIDMAN FILM

ROLF HARRIS has recorded his legendary wobbleboard for use on the soundtrack of forthcoming movie AUSTRALIA, which stars NICOLE KIDMAN and HUGH JACKMAN.

Harris, 78, was asked to contribute the distinctive sound for a track on Baz Luhrmann's new film, which will be used on the opening credits and on a fight scene, reports the BBC.

The Australian musician and artist has been using the unusual instrument since 1959, when he noticed that hardboard made an intriguing sound when wobbled.

Speaking about his appearance on the movie's soundtrack, he said: "I was told they wanted the iconic sound of the wobble board. They already had the didgeridoo on there.

"Apparently Baz Luhrmann suddenly said, 'This is crazy, we haven't got the iconic sound of Rolf Harris's wobble board on the music, we must be mad'."

He added that the director was "thrilled" with the recording that he sent back.

AUSTRALIA is scheduled for release in the UK on December 26th.
