ROCKY ANDREWS IS SECOND APPRENTICE HOPEFUL FIRED

Twenty-one-year-old Rocky Andrews has become the second contestant fired from the new series of The Apprentice.

The sandwich shop chain owner got the boot from the BBC1 show after the boys' team failed a catering challenge.

Andrews, a former footballer, faced Sir Alan Sugar in the boardroom along with Howard Ebison and James McQuillan after his team made a £160.76 loss in the second task.

Girls' team leader Yasmina Siadatan had earlier presided over a £651.43 victory.

Andrews, whose career with Middlesbrough was ended by a knee injury, was criticised by Sir Alan for his "immature mistakes" as team leader.

"Your career at Middlesbrough was halted and you got taken off the pitch on a stretcher," the Amstrad boss told Andrew.

"This time you're off the pitch in a black cab. You're fired!"

Speaking after his exit Andrews said: "I'm feeling a little bit gutted but I'm going to take it on the chin and make sure that it makes me more determined to get on and make sure I do very well for myself."

Sir Alan had criticised 32-year-old McQuillan's CV in which he boasted about his ability to "taste success".

"What did you have? A curry last night then?" asked the tycoon.

However, team leader Andrews came in for the harshest criticism due to his background in catering.

"Where is this expertise of yours? Your shops may do very low cost sandwiches but the principle is there," Sir Alan remarked.

"You know how much cheese to buy, how much bread to buy, how much butter to buy. A total mess!"
