ROCK & ROLL HALL SALUTES JOPLIN

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is saluting late blues singer JANIS JOPLIN with a week-long series of events and a star-studded concert in her honour.
The hall in Cleveland, Ohio and Case Western Reserve University will present talks this week (begs09Nov09) by those who were close to Joplin during her climb to fame in the 1960s - including her siblings, her former road manager, and Jefferson Airplane guitarist Jorma Kaukonen.
The tributes will conclude on Saturday (14Nov09) with the tribute show, featuring Lucinda Williams, Country Joe MCDonald, and songwriter Bob Neuwirth, who wrote one of Joplin's last recordings, Mercedes Benz.
Joplin died from a drug overdose in 1970, aged 27.
