Hard to celebrate the R&R Hall of Fame Anniversary knowing that a R&R great has NOT YET been inducted: Leon Russell. Leon was a presence at the 1st ever R&R concert to raise money for charity in 1972: The Concert for Bangladesh. He was on keyboards, vocals, guitar the ENTIRE concert with Geo. Harrison, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton & Bob Dylan (who even sang one of his songs). If you watch the DVD, it's clear that Leon was the on-stage director of all the musicians. Without Leon Russell, who would have heard of Joe c**ker? Leon wrote & did the keyboards for most of Joe c**ker's hits, incl: Delta Lady; This Song for You; Superstar–– and moreover it was his keyboards that drove these songs to success. His backup singers were the best in the business: Rita Coolidge ("Delta Lady") and the magnificent Claudia Lennear-also spelled as Linnear ("Brown Sugar"). It's unthinkable that LEON RUSSELL has not been included in the Hall of Fame. Please change this and include him in your anniversary show. He may not be a household name, but neither was Lou Reed. Both are geniuses of R&R. It was only fitting that you included Lou Reed. Now do the right thing for Leon Russell.
