ROCK ICONS LEND NAME TO VIRGIN PLANE

Veteran rock band JEFFERSON AIRPLANE inspired the naming of a new commercial aircraft at a star-studded San Francisco, California, launch yesterday (11OCT06). Singer GRACE SLICK joined California Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER and San Francisco Mayor GAVIN NEWSOM at the event to dedicate Virgin America's new corporate headquarters. The new 'Jefferson Airplane' is the first of the flight company's new fleet to be named but Virgin America has urged the public to submit entries to name its other planes as well. Jefferson Airplane are widely regarded as the most successful San Francisco band of the late 1960s, despite countless personnel and even name changes.
