ROBINSON AND GORDY JOIN MOURNERS AT STUBBS FUNERAL

Soul legend SMOKEY ROBINSON and Motown Records boss BERRY GORDY JR. were among the stars who turned out on Monday (27Oct08) to pay their last respects to late FOUR TOPS singer LEVI STUBBS.
Stubbs, who had suffered from a long battle with cancer and ill health, died in his sleep earlier this month (17Oct08) at his home in Detroit, Michigan.
A memorial service for the singer was held at Detroit's Greater Grace Temple on Monday (27Oct08), when a handful of famous faces joined Stubbs' family and friends to mourn his loss.
Gordy Jr. paid tribute to Stubbs at the church service, telling the gathering: "He made us walk in his shoes, felt what he felt and loved what he loved. He not only sang the song, he was the song.
"A Levi Stubbs comes along only once - period."
Robinson also had some touching words to say about the I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) star, and insisted Stubbs' memory would live on for years to come.
Robinson said, "He will always be here. You're going to turn on the radio and hear him tomorrow. He made his mark on the world. All over the world, you'll be able to hear Levi Stubbs forever."
