ROBERTS PLANS MISSISSIPPI CANCER MISSION
Breast cancer fighter ROBIN ROBERTS will return to TV in America this week (beg27Aug07) to interview survivors of the disease in Lousiana and Mississippi.
The TV news anchorwoman's reports from her home state of Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 were heart wrenching, and now the brave ABC regular is revisiting the state on the second anniversary of the natural disaster.
But this time Roberts plans to tie storm recovery stories to her own personal health crisis - by meeting cancer survivors on the Gulf Coast.
Roberts has revealed she is "healing" following surgery to remove cancerous tumours from her body.
The Good Morning America co-host, 46, is recovering from a 3 August (07) operation following her diagnosis with breast cancer and is currently waiting to hear from doctors if she will need further treatment.
Roberts hopes her news specials this week will prompt women across America to sign up for cancer checks.
She says, "This is the battle cry for all of us - get checked... If you really wanna help, don't become one of us."
The newswoman will also speak at a Pink Hearts cancer benefit in Mississippi this week - an engagement she booked before she was diagnosed with the disease.
