ROBBINS PREFERS ACTING TO DIRECTING

Hollywood star TIM ROBBINS prefers acting in films to directing them, because the latter comes with too many responsibilities. Having not directed a film since his 1999 Depression-era musical CRADLE WILL ROCK, Robbins has realised how much easier life is to remain in front of the camera than to be behind it. He says, "Not directing has been a choice. I've directed three plays since I last directed a film and that's a great opportunity to explore themes without having to ask permission to raise millions of dollars. "I really check out when I'm directing a film, really go into it, and over the past few years it's been nice to just be an actor and raise a family. "And with acting, the choices are simple, dictated, hopefully, by me. And I don't ever think, 'Studio movie bad, independent movie good.'"
