RINGWALD: 'TEEN PREGNANCY IS STILL A PRESSING PROBLEM'

Actress MOLLY RINGWALD agreed to play the worried mum of an expectant teen in a new TV drama to remind America that unplanned pregnancies are still a huge problem.
The flame-haired star played a teenage mum-to-be in 1988 film For Keeps and, now 40, she's tackling the subject matter again in The Secret Life of The American Teenager.
She hopes the new project will prompt young girls and their mothers to communicate with each other better - so a few unplanned pregnancies can be avoided.
She explains, "Not all that much has changed. If you look at the movies I did... I played a teen mom. There were drugs in (1985 film) The Breakfast Club. There's all that insecurity... All the same issues are still there. It's all about communication."
