RICKY GERVAIS TO PRESENT GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD
British actor Ricky Gervais has been announced as one of the awards presenters for the upcoming Golden Globes.
The comedian has won three of the prestigious prizes, along with two Emmys and seven Baftas for his series The Office and Extras.
The BBC shows are the only two British sitcoms to have ever been honoured with a Golden Globe.
Gervais, 47, had been rumoured as a potential host for the 2009 Oscars, though that role has been taken by Australia star Hugh Jackman.
He described being asked to present a prize at the Golden Globes as an "amazing honour".
"Winning two Globes back in 2004 is still a career highlight, and this time I even get a goody bag," he told the BBC.
Glenn Close and Jake Gyllenhaal were also announced today as awards presenters.
They join the comic actors Seth Rogen, Sacha Baron Cohen and Amy Poehler, as well as Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Lopez and Salma Hayek.
Frost/Nixon and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button are the frontrunners for the 2009 Golden Globes, with five nominations each.
The 66th annual Golden Globes will be held on January 11th at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
