RICHARD FEARED THE BEATLES

SIR CLIFF RICHARD once feared his career would be ruined by the BEATLES.
The Fab Four dominated the music scene in the 1960s and Richard was petrified the band would over take him in the charts.
And he admits his concerns were only eased after seeking advice from his manager.
He says, "It was alarming only because the media made it alarming. All you ever heard about was The Beatles, every day for two years, almost as though we'd died and gone.
"I remember sitting down with my manager and he said, 'Are you still selling records? Are you having number ones? Are you selling out your tours?' The answer to all those questions was yes. So then he said, 'Well, why are you bothered about the Beatles?' That's when the fear left us."
