REUNITED BLUR TO HEADLINE T IN THE PARK AND OXEGEN

Blur are to headline this summer's T in the Park and Oxegen festivals, it has been announced.

The reunited Parklife stars will join Kings of Leon, Katy Perry and Snow Patrol at the Scottish and Irish festivals.

In December, Damon Albarn and co announced they were to reform for a concert in London's Hyde Park on July 3rd 2009, with a second date announced soon after the first 50,000 tickets sold out in just two minutes.

The four-piece said they planned to play further UK shows this summer and it has now been revealed they will return to T in the Park 15 years after performing at the very first festival.

T in the Park festival director Geoff Ellis said he was delighted to have signed up the "iconic" act to close the Scottish event's main stage on Saturday July 11th.

"When we heard there was a chance of them reforming, we were sniffing about because it was something we wanted to be part of," he told the Glasgow Daily Record.

"They are one of those bands you talk about in the same breath as the Jam and the Smiths.

"They perfected pop music from an indie-guitar perspective. I never thought they would reform. They had all gone off to do their own things and when people go on different paths, you don't tend to see them get together again."

It is rumoured Blur have been paid over £1 million to headline the Scottish event, a claim Ellis neither confirmed nor denied.

"We pushed the boat out. That's what T in the Park is about... The heavyweight acts help to make it special."

Blur have also been linked with a headlining slot at this year's Glastonbury festival.
