RESCUE ME CUT TO FIVE MINUTES

Apparently hoping to avoid the out-of-sight/out-of-mind syndrome, Sony Pictures Television and FX plan to present ten five-minute episodes of Rescue Me, starring Denis Leary and Peter Tolan, during the summer. The companies announced that whil e the writers' strike had made it impossible to produce the usual number of half-hour shows for the fifth season, the "minisodes" are expected "to keep the series top-of-mind in preparation for next season's 22 consecutive episodes." The episodes will also be available online the day following the FX telecasts at www.crackle.com/rescueme.
