REPUBLICAN TO OPPOSE JACKSON'S AMERICAN LEGEND TITLE

The U.S. Congressman who took aim at MICHAEL JACKSON as part of a CNN rant about the ongoing media attention surrounding the King of Pop's death has vowed to fight plans to honour the pop star as an official American legend.
Texas Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee represented Congress and the U.S. Black Caucus at the Jackson memorial on Tuesday (07Jul09) and announced she'd be spearheading a motion at the U.S. House of Representatives to declare the late star "an American legend and musical icon (and) a world humanitarian".
Lee also showed off a framed copy of the resolution, which will be debated.
But Republican Peter King, who dubbed Jackson a "pervert, child molester, paedophile" in a recent interview, insists he plans to oppose the resolution, stating he'll do "whatever I have to do".
