REDGRAVE SANG EDELWEISS AT DYING DAUGHTER'S BEDSIDE

Acting legend VANESSA REDGRAVE sang an emotional rendition of the song she sang at her daughter's first wedding - as NATASHA RICHARDSON died on Wednesday (18Mar09), according to British reports.
Shortly before Richardson's husband Liam Neeson made the decision to turn off the life-support machine keeping his wife alive, Redgrave, 72, sang Rodgers & Hammerstein's Edelweiss from The Sound Of Music as she sat by her dying daughter's bed at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital, according to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
Hours later Richardson, 45, died of internal bleeding following a skiing accident.
The publication reports Redgrave sang Edelweiss at the reception following her daughter's first marriage to Robert Fox in 1990.
Redgrave and Neeson were among the family and friends who gathered at the American Irish Historical Society in Manhattan on Friday (20Mar09) for the late actress' wake.
