REDBOX CELEBRATES 200 MILLIONTH RENTAL

It may have a way to go before it can boast of "billions" of rentals, but McDonald's/Coinstar's Redbox said Wednesday that it rented its 200 millionth DVD from one of its New York City kiosks last month. The company also boasted that it has now installed more than 10,000 $1-a-day kiosks in McDonald's restaurants, the Winn-Dixie grocery chain, Wal-Mart stores, Walgreen drugstores, and other retail outlets across the country. In a statement, Gregg Kaplan, CEO for Redbox, said "Redbox's proven technology, dedicated workforce and ability to deliver unsurpassed consumer convenience and value have allowed us to expand rapidly in the competitive home entertainment industry."
