RAPPER PRODIGY SUES OVER 'UNPAID ROYALTIES'
Incarcerated MOBB DEEP rapper PRODIGY has filed suit against a New York-based music company for allegedly failing to pay him over $30,000 (£21,130) in royalties.
In court documents filed on 23 March (09) in Manhattan Supreme Court, the hip-hop star claims executives at Vox Music Group agreed in August 2007 to pay him $10,300 (£7,255) a month.
According to the New York Post, Johnson says music bosses missed three payments and have failed to give him a semi-annual royalty accounting statement, forcing his family home into foreclosure.
The legal documents read: "These breaches... have put Prodigy's family in financial peril."
The rapper - real name Albert Johnson - is also asking the agreement be terminated.
He was jailed for three years in October 2007 for unlawful gun possession.
