RAPPER LIL WAYNE ARRESTED
American rapper Lil Wayne has been arrested in connection with a drug charge felony, police have said.
The 25-year-old was detained by Idaho police after performing at the Qwest Arena in state capital Boise.
He is accused of possessing a controlled substance by prosecutors in Georgia.
According to reports the hip-hop star, real name Dwayne Michael Carter, was booked into the Ada County Jail in the early hours of Saturday morning, where he will remain until a hearing on Monday.
"Every other phone call that we've picked up has been about him people who have tickets wanting to know where his concert will be, people calling to see if it's true that he's incarcerated," an unnamed police deputy told the Associated Press news agency.
Last year Lil Wayne was detained on a gun charge by police in New York, while in 2005 he faced arrest over separate drugs offences.
His arrest casts doubt over a planned appearance at the Black Entertainment TV Hip-Hop awards, for which he has received nominations in seven categories for, next week.
