RANDY NEWMAN POSTPONES TOUR

RANDY NEWMAN has been forced to postpone his forthcoming European tour due to ill health.

The veteran singer-songwriter was scheduled to perform at London's Royal Festival Hall on November 19th - which would have been his first UK date for five years, reports Uncut.

A statement issued by Newman said: "It is with great regret that Grammy and Academy Award-winner Randy Newman has had to postpone his forthcoming European tour on doctor's orders because of physical limitations and severe pain caused by stenosis in the lower back and neck."

He apologised to his fans saying he regretted not being able to come to Europe, adding: "I'll get there as soon as I can."

Newman was planning to debut songs from his latest album HARPS AND ANGELS on the tour, which was due to kick off in Berlin on November 1st.

The songwriter was awarded an Oscar for Best Song in 2002 for his track If I Didn't Have You, which was used in the film MONSTERS INC.
