RAMSAY BOOTED OFF SUNDAY TIMES RICH LIST
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has been booted off the Sunday Times rich list after his personal wealth plummeted in a year full of scandal.
Reports of his restaurants serving ready meals and his company, Gordon Ramsay Holdings, breaching bank covenants led to him being removed from the list over doubts about the sustainability of his business.
The year has been an exceptionally bad one for those in the world of football as well.
Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich, who finished the year second on the list of the 1,000 wealthiest people in Britain, took a battering this year as his total wealth fell from £11.7 billion to £7 billion.
Major Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov saw a 74 per cent drop in his fortune to £1.5 billion, while Newcastle owner Mike Ashley's wealth halved in value to £700 million.
Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson finished the year on £1.2 billion, according to the Times, with 56 per cent wiped off his personal fortune.
India's steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal finished top of the list with £10.9 billion, a 61 per cent fall on his total wealth in 2008.
