RAIMI LANDS THE SHADOW RIGHTS
SPIDER-MAN director SAM RAIMI has secured the screen rights to the tales of cult 1930s hero THE SHADOW.
Raimi's Buckaroo Entertainment, which he heads with producer JOSH DONEN, has landed the chance to produce WALTER B WILSON's The Shadow - a cape-wearing crime fighter who made his debut on American radio before becoming hugely popular.
Lifelong fan Raimi admits landing the film has been a dream come true - but hasn't been linked with the project in a directorial role yet.
He says, "I've been a passionate Shadow fan ever since I was a kid and have long dreamed of bringing this character to the screen."
The character has already influenced many comic book heroes, and was adapted for cinema in 1994 but wasn't commercially successful.
