RAI CAUGHT UP IN RELIGIOUS CONTROVERSY

Bollywood beauty AISHWARYA RAI has been caught up in a religious controversy after one of her bodyguards was caught desecrating a Hindu temple in Pushkar, India. The top Asian actress was visiting the holy town, where alcohol and meat is forbidden, on Friday (29DEC06) when her minder reportedly fought with fans who attempted to greet Rai. Local officials, who are considering pressing charges against the Bollywood star and her bodyguard, allege the man was also drunk - a charge Rai herself denies. LADOO RAM, a local priest, tells the Hindustan Times newspaper, "We are contemplating action against the star as she is responsible for her guards." But police have sided with Rai's guards, claiming they were only trying to protect the star from fans and reporters.
