RADIOHEAD GUITARIST'S SCORE INELIGIBLE FOR OSCAR

The film score written by RADIOHEAD guitarist JONNY GREENWOOD for THERE WILL BE BLOOD has been deemed ineligible for an Oscar nomination.

The music branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the accolades, stated that the score could not be nominated as "the majority of the music was not composed specifically for the film", reports NME magazine.

Greenwood's score lasts for 35 minutes but in the film a further 46 minutes of pre-written music is played.

THERE WILL BE BLOOD, which stars DANIEL DAY LEWIS, looks set to lead the Oscars with a total of eight nominations.

It is up against the COEN BROTHERS' NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and ATONEMENT for the best picture award, while its leading man is the favourite to be named best actor.

Meanwhile, RADIOHEAD was one of a number of bands recently criticised by LED ZEPPELIN star ROBERT PLANT.

The rocker reportedly asked for one of the band's songs to be turned off in a London bar, before going on to liken the RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS' songs to "nursery rhymes".
