'The Time Traveler's Wife' actress Rachel McAdams always cried while watching movies on planes - even if they are not sad.

Rachel McAdams always cries on airplanes.

The Hollywood actress - who has starred in a number of tear-jerking blockbusters, including 'The Notebook' and 'The Time Traveler's Wife' - is overcome with emotion when she watches movies on long-haul flights and will burst into tears even if they don't have sad storylines.

She said: "I cry at movies that aren't supposed to be sad. It's something about the airplane - it's something about the altitude, but I cry in every movie I've ever seen on an airplane!"

The 30-year-old beauty is currently single since her split from actor Josh Lucas earlier this year.

Before Josh, Rachel dated Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling - who she met on the set of 'The Notebook' - until they parted ways in 2007.

But the US starlet can now deal with heartache and learns from each of her relationships.

She explained to America's OK! magazine: "It's hard to start fresh but you have to do that with everyone.

"I always find that one relationship always helps out with the next."
