QOTSA FANS FLEE SMOKY GIG DOWN UNDER

More than a thousand QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE fans were forced to flee a gig in Tasmania, Australia on Friday (04Apr08), after a stage light overheated and filled the venue with smoke.
The incident, at the packed 1,750-capacity Hobart City Hall, took place before the American band had even made it onstage.
The crowd was evacuated, fire fighters were called, and the offending light was fixed - allowing the concert to kick off just 20 minutes late.
A spokesperson for Tasmania's fire service explains, "The evacuation of the packed out venue was achieved with minimal effort that was made a lot easier by the cooperation of the patrons and abundance of emergency exit doors in the hall."
