PUSSYCATS SEEK 'NEW DOLL'

The Pussycat Dolls have turned to reality television in the search for a new "doll" to join their sassy ensemble.

Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for The Next Doll premiered on US TV network CW last night, with the series set to follow the trials and tribulations of nine young women hoping to join the existing six-member band and embrace girl power by becoming the newest Doll.

According to CW's website: "Some of the gorgeous and gifted participants are great singers, some are great dancers, some have a creative style all their own, but the winner of the competition will be the one who combines all these talents to unleash her inner Pussycat Doll."

Apparently, unleashing one's inner doll will require participants to "undergo a total transformation" and work their way through various challenges, including learning dance routines with male partners and designing an original Pussycat Doll-style outfit for the usually scantily clad band.

Having burst onto the music scene with their first single, Don't Cha Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me?, the Pussycats are unlikely to be looking for a meek kitten to join the group, but producers say that lead singer Nicole Scherzinger will be on hand with the other dolls to "empower the girls to give their all during each challenge".

Whether giving their all will be enough to impress the show's judges remains to be seen, with the final doll set to be chosen by Pussycats founder and choreographer, Robin Antin, rapper Lil' Kim and chair of Geffen Records Ron Fair.

Hopefully the newest doll will be able to contribute to the Pussycats' success.

The band, which began life as an exotic Los Angeles dance troupe, have sold over five million copies of their debut album PCD.
